Be The Change

This two-minute video called is simply called 'Tree,' and though it is a short and simple video, it has become an anthem for India.

This video was an entry for a campaign by the Times Newspaper of India called Lead India.

Please take a look at the video, and leave a comment detailing your impressions. Did you like it? Was it inspiring? Keep an eye out for the glimpses the director gives us into both the good and bad sides of human nature.

Remember, there are no correct answers, so feel free to say anything you want in your comments. Don't worry whether or not others will like your answers; just answer honestly and that'll be great. :)

Welcome to the Fall 2011 Debate Class!

Hi everyone,

Welcome to our Debate class for the Fall 2011 semester. I hope you've all had a good summer.
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Brian. Some of you will have taken Debate with me before, but this semester will be a little different. We're not going to use a textbook this time, and we're going to rely heavily on this blog. This blog will be important because I will be posting stories/videos/article for you to look at, and they will form the basis of our debate and discussion topics in class. Basically, if we're to have good debates during class, it will depend on all of you looking at this blog a couple of times a week.

I hope that this class will be fun, informative, and helpful to you in your debating skills and overall English speaking skills. If you have any topics you really want to debate this semester, please post a comment in the comments section for THIS POST so that I can take a look at them. I can't guarantee that we'll cover all the topics suggested, but we'll see what we can do. :)
